System-wide planning support
Drawing on our renewed educational ideas and building on the support we provide decision makers globally, we can provide advice and guidance to support strategies for reopening schools in Covid-19. This could include the planning and implementation phases through which ministries of education will operate, covering a range of key strategies related to schools, systems, capacity development and interministerial work.
Decision makers will need to ensure that systems are in place for return to school, or transition cycles as the public health scenario changes. This will require building flexible workforce models and ensuring that students' highly diverse needs can be broadly understood and met. The Education Development Fund supports system leaders internationally as they plan for further change.
We support decision makers internationally in these areas for example - from Kenya to Brunei. In Kenya, for example, we are rapidly mobilizing a network of health volunteers to help reach vulnerable girls most at risk of learning continuity disorder. We can also help system leaders understand how to consider and use community leaders, parents, youth or peer leaders in their planning, as in the Ebola response in Sierra Leone.
